A Talk with Geoff Nuttall about Mozart

Violinist Geoff Nuttall on Mozart

In December 2014, the St. Lawrence String Quartet performed at the Library of Congress’ Stradivari Anniversary Concert. Before the performance, we talked with ensemble co-founder and violinist Geoff Nuttall about creative failure and the importance of risk-taking. While discussing one of the pieces they would be playing—Mozart’s String Quintet in G minor, K. 516, with guest violist Hsin-Yun Huang—Nuttall shared his thoughts about the piece, and how even Mozart worried about failure sometimes. Here's an excerpt of the talk and of the music, which we caught during a pre-performance rehearsal. Read the full interview with Geoff Nuttall.
