Bill Kirchner on Jim Hall

Now, A Jazz Moment...

MUSIC: "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To" CD: Concierto, ZK 65132 (cut 1)

Bill Kirchner: Jim Hall is one of the most incredible guitar players in jazz history. And he's universally respected by jazz guitarists.

Like many fans, musician and writer Bill Kirchner reveres NEA Jazz Master Jim Hall's understated approach to music.

He's an extremely lyrical player, but it's not just quote "pretty." There's a strength to that lyricism. And there's an incredible substance to it that really leaps out at you. So as a result, when you think of Jim Hall, you think of somebody who's just a really deep musician. Who never does anything that's superficial or light-weight.

MUSIC: up and ends or fades under
