Pat Metheny on Wes Montgomery

ON WES MONTGOMERY [:59] NOW, A JAZZ MOMENT No Blues   AS A KID, NEA JAZZ MASTER PAT METHENY ADORED WES MONTGOMERY’S EXPRESSIVE GUITAR WORK. HE STILL DOES. I had a record I talk about a lot, Smokin’ at the Half Note. It’s one of the most famous of Wes’s records. No Blues up I think that there’s a normal trajectory that many young musicians follow, which is you have a few favorite players, and you know, you emulate them to a degree, best of your ability early on, and Wes was the guy for me. No Blues again

THIS JAZZ MOMENT WITH GUITARIST PAT METHENY WAS PRODUCED BY THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS.

“No Blues” composed by Miles Davis and performed by Wes Montgomery, from Smokin’ at the Half Note, used courtesy of Blue Note and by permission of Songs of Kobalt Music Publishing a/c Jazz Music Horn Corporation, BMI.
