The National Endowment for the Arts invites Tribal leaders to discuss their needs and concerns related to NEA resources and NEA's draft Tribal Consultation policy. NEA plans to consider this input for incorporation into our Tribal Consultation policy and support we provide to Tribal communities across the U.S. This tribal consultation is in alignment with President Biden’s Memorandum on Tribal Consultation and Strengthening Nation-to-Nation Relationships and Executive Order 13175. The main purpose of this meeting is to inform the NEA’s draft Tribal Consultation policy, to update tribal leaders on NEA’s engagement with Native artists and communities, and to inform our work related to the Executive Order on Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.

In the event you wish to send a proxy, please notify NativeArts@arts.gov by August 3, 2021. To designate a proxy for this meeting, please copy the attached delegation form onto tribal letterhead. This designation will authorize your designee, in writing, who will be attending in your place and the estimated time of your absence. Tribal leader positions may not be delegated in perpetuity.

You are welcome to bring program leadership and staff from your Nation to the tribal consultation as observers/technical advisors. Please be advised that there may also be representatives of Native arts and cultural organizations present as observers of the consultation. We hope that you will be able to join us for this important discussion and value your participation.
