Whether you're heading to the beach or taking a post-work dip in the kiddie pool, we have some Art Works podcasts for you because summertime and the listening's easy. Click on the bolded names to listen. There's nothing like the summer to make even the not-so-young feel young-at-heart. Turns out the same's true of Shakespeare. Learn more in our chat with Jilann Spitzmiller about her new documentary Still Dreaming set at the Lillian Booth Actors' Home. They may be called the "lazy, hazy, crazy" days of summer, but we find the extra hours of daylight actually make us more productive. Like take up a new hobby productive. Like learn to quilt productive. For inspiration, listen in as we talk to NEA National Heritage Fellow Carolyn Mazloomi, a master quilter and quilting advocate. What's on your summer reading list? The Big Read Library's a great way to catch up with old favorites (To Kill a Mockingbird comes to mind today!), but did you know there are also some soon-to-be-your-new favorites on the list? Get to know two of our newest Big Read authors in our podcasts with Dinaw Mengestu and Edwidge Danticat. Nothing says summer like risking sunburn for a glimpse of the awesomeness that is a pod of whales cavorting off a summery coast. Not sure Captain Ahab would agree with us but Herman Melville might. Learn more about the man behind the iconic whale in our chat with historian Nathaniel Philbrick.  Everyone loves an underdog story with a happy ending, and these days Detroit's full of them. Like the story of Sam White whose site-specific Shakespeare productions are bringing new life to old spaces. Which Art Works podcasts are you listening to this summer? Let us know your favorites in the comments.
