Native Art Making in Place
On September 28, the NEA will host Gathering in Fellowship: The Legacy and Impact of NEA National Heritage Fellows, where the last four classes of fellows (2020 – 2023) will convene and reflect on the impact of receiving the award for their community-centered, cultural practices.
Held at the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), the one-day gathering will feature a special afternoon panel with a film screening and lively conversation about Native art-making and the land, cosponsored by NMAI. NEA National Heritage Fellows will share firsthand stories of place and belonging as understood through their life’s work as traditional and community-based artists. This panel will be livestreamed as well as being open to the public to attend in person.
