BIG BANDS ON THE RADIO [:59]
RUFFIN: Now, a Jazz Moment

RUFFIN: 2015 NEA JAZZ MASTER JOE SEGAL ON THE MUSIC THAT CHANGED HIS LIFE.
O Sole Mio
SEGAL: From WWL in New Orleans, the Claude Thornhill Band, or from WOR in New York, they did the Metropolitan Opera, and then they switched over to Town Hall with Eddie Condon. And I heard all the greats: Jack Teagarden and Sidney Bechet and Louis Armstrong and all ‘a that. I loved all of it.
O Sole Mio
THIS JAZZ MOMENT WITH JAZZ ADVOCATE JOE SEGAL WAS PRODUCED BY THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS.
Excerpt of “O Sole Mio” composed by Eduardo di Capua and performed by the Claude Thornhill Band, used courtesy of and by permission of HEP Records/Sony Entertainment.
