Josh Ritter: I felt like I had all these words inside of me and I had no idea how they-- what form they were going to fill. I wasn't even thinking about it like that until I heard Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan sing "Girl From the North Country" together on a record.  Girl from the North Country up and hot, under I plugged in my parents' old record player, and there was Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan singing this song. So simple, and so beautiful, and and they sounded like they needed a shave, and it was just so gorgeous, and I felt like something that I could do. that was the moment my world kind of cracked open, and I saw how much stuff there was back there for me.
