More from Miami...

Washington, DC Playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, a Miami native, has earned quite a few frequent flier miles in recent years. In October 2008, the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey, produced McCraney?s trilogy, collectively titled The Brother/Sister Plays, as an NEA Outstanding New American Play selection of the NEA New Play Development Program. Since then, the trilogy has been produced at several leading theaters across the country, including the Studio Theatre in Washington, DC, and the Public Theater in New York City. Currently, through May 23, the three plays -- In The Red and Brown Water, The Brothers Size, and Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet -- are in repertory at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre. In this excerpt from an interview with the NEA, McCraney shares his dream for heading back to Miami to spend some time founding a new theater.
