Poetry of Change

"Woods" by DaDaAce.
It's almost autumn and change is in the air. Literally. The crisp mornings and cool nights are invariably a small shock to the system. The fall change(s) can be a wee bit bigger than the typical back-to-school and back-to-the-grind work days. NEA Presenting Specialist and poet, Pepper Smith, sets up and reads his latest poem about a different, bigger kind of change---fatherhood. I sat down with Pepper not only to talk about the fall and change, but also to discuss how we use language to process important moments in time. I have to point out, again, that words will be celebrated by poets and prose writers alike at the upcoming National Book Festival [this weekend!!!]. Be sure to stop by the NEA's Poetry and Prose Pavilion. Thanks for listening!
