At Jacob’s Pillow in August 2022, Vanessa Sanchez and her ensemble La Mezcla performed selections from Pachuquísmo, which unveils a forgotten history of Mexican American female youth and explores the struggles that communities of color continue to face today. In the next issue of American Artscape, we look at some of the Hispanic/Latinx artists and arts organizations who share, in their own words, how they are making an impact on U.S. culture today.

As NEA Chair Maria Rosario Jackson writes in her intro to the issue: "Hispanic/Latinx communities are original threads in America’s tapestry and Hispanic/Latinx artists and arts organizations continue to contribute to our shared story in deeply impactful ways."

Featuring interviews with Alana Hernandez of Arizona's CALA Alliance, Vanessa Sanchez of San Francisco-based dance company La Mezcla, Texas music educator José Diaz, and more, the issue will be live on Monday, November 21 at arts.gov/stories/magazine.
