Art Works Podcast: Wesley Stace
In this week's podcast, Wesley Stace talks about his dual career as a musician and an author. Performing under the stage name John Wesley Harding, he has released some 15 albums. But when he turned his hand to literature, he published under his real name, Wesley Stace. In his third and most recent book, Charles Jessold, Considered as a Murderer, Stace weaves together his two artistic fields: music and writing. Set in England before the First World War, the novel tells the story of a talented young composer, Charles Jessold, who murders his wife, her lover, and then kills himself on the eve of his new opera’s debut. It’s a good thriller that takes a thoughtful look at the intersections of music and nationalism, artists and critics.
